About the school with a tour
Concord High School is a co-educational school situated in a well-established residential area in Sydney, near the Olympic site. Surrounded by parks, the school has an open plan and was a Department of Education and Training showpiece of design. Buildings accommodate wheelchair access for disabled students.
The school offers a fully staffed Learning Centre for student use throughout the school, as well as a gymnasium, library, modern theatrette/cinema, digital technology centre and has a caring community and a friendly atmosphere. All activities are strongly focused upon personalising each student’s education.
The curriculum offers programs for gifted children and will be again catering for a specially selected Year 7 gifted and talented class for 2007. Programs also offer assistance for those from non English-speaking backgrounds and learning difficulties. The school offers a Learning Support Team to monitor individual programs. Recent outstanding achievements in the HSC, Australian and International sporting arenas and the Performing Arts are clear indicators of the high level of educational opportunities provided for students. There are now over 100 international students at our school, mostly from China and South Korea.
The average size is 25 and classes are both streamed and mixed ability according to subject matter and student needs. Over 85% of students complete Year 12 with a high percentage of these students gaining university entrance.
