A History of our School

Concord High School lies on almost three and one half hectares of land which was once the site of a tannery firm, called Farleigh Nettheim & Co., a firm which was established in Sydney since 1876. The factory site was purchased by the New South Wales Department of Education in 1970 at a cost of $650,000, although by 1974 no firm date was announced for the construction of the new high school.

Clearing of the site continued during 1976 and several designs were proposed and evaluated. When tenders were called in October 1977 the successful bidder, C.H Webb Brothers Pty. Ltd submitted a price over four million dollars. Part of the school was sufficiently completed to allow its use from the beginning of the 1980 school year. Concord High School was officially opened by Sir James Rowland, governor of New South Wales, on 6 May 1981.

Before there was Concord High School there was a tannery.

Concord high school was constructed in 1979.
It was soon filled with students eager to learn.

Before the gardens grew the school looked somewhat like this.
