Year 11/12 Economics

Economic decisions have a crucial influence on the quality of life experienced by people throughout the world. The study of economics can help individuals, groups and societies make choices that assist them to improve their quality of life.
As a subject, Economics is distinctive because of the range of problems and issues that it investigates and the skills that it develops. A student who has completed the Preliminary and HSC courses should have knowledge and skills enabling them to comprehend economic issues and how that impacts both the domestic and international markets, interest rates, cash rates and share values. The study of economy also helps to delve deeper into employment patterns, the fluctatuations in the global and Australian economices and their likely effects on business.
Students are taught various course outcomes using a variety of strategies and resources. These are taught in accordance with the NSW Board of Studies Economics syllabus. Students are also encourage to view the Performance Descriptor below, which clearly outlines what constitutes Bands 1-6 in the Economics course. Students are encouraged to work towards these descriptors across all coursework.

Holiday Task 2012 (Due date end of Week 1, Term 1 2012)
Students will need to compete the following activities during the course of the holidays to ensure that their learning is ongoing. This holiday task will also aid students in developing their skills in different elements of writing for the HSC exam.
