PDHPE
Personal Development, Health, Physical Education (PDHPE) aims to provide students with opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills that will enable them to enjoy a healthy, active life, both now and in the future.
Teaching and learning focuses on developing the 6 key skills of;
| * communicating | * moving |
| * decision making | * planning |
| * interacting | * problem solving |
In PE students participate in a variety of physical activities such as athletics, games, gymnastics, dance, fitness and recreational pursuits. These activities aim to develop a range of movement skills that support students to move with confidence and competence and promote the value of being physically active. In this way we hope to increase their sense of confidence in a range of different movement contexts and instil in students' a sense of enjoyment in physical activity that will ultimately increase the likelihood they will continue to be active throughout their lives.
In Health they explore issues that are likely to impact on their health and wellbeing, or that of other people, both now and in the future. Students develop knowledge and understandings about issues relevant to many young people to enable them to manage challenges they may face and make healthy decisions. These issues include healthy eating, road safety, drug use, discrimination, on-line safety, respectful relationships, mental health and sexual health. Through learning in PDHPE, students have the opportunities to develop skills to make informed decisions and personal coping strategies for everyday life.
