Japanese
Stage 4 (Year 7 and Year 8)
Students start by learning the Japanese Hiragana writing system. They will also cover topics such as greetings, self introduction, numbers, colours, finding out information about family, pets, etc. Students will also learn about various Japanese cultural features, e.g. customs, famous cities, festivals and celebrations.
Stage 5 (Year 10)
Students will continue their learning of the Japanese language and culture. Some students will continue their study of Japanese in their senior years.
Stage 6 (Year 11 Year 12)
Students will have the option of choosing one of the following courses:

Continuers
Some activities the Japanese classes enjoyed in 2010
Following on from the success of last year's Japanese courses, Japanese has continued to thrive at Concord High. Six classes in total studied Japanese this year, including three senior classes. These classes enjoyed a number of excursions and activities. In 2010, Year 12 Beginners and Continuers students visited Japanese book shops, a Japanese restaurant and participated in karaoke.
The Year 11 Continuers class participated in the 2010 Japanese Film Festival, viewed a Japanese movie and ate the Obento in Hyde Park. Year 10 students enjoyed an excursion to the Japanese Sushi restaurant where they ordered in Japanese and ate some delicious Japanese food. A select number of students from10 student hosted a group of visiting Japanese students at Concord High one afternoon. They enjoyed afternoon tea together, discussed the education system in NSW, and played cricket together. It was a rich and enjoyable cultural and language exchange for all involved.
Our junior students of Japanese also enjoyed a Japanese incursion where they ate delicious lunch boxes. Students experienced authentic Japanese culture, ate Japanese food, and participated in valuable learning activities.
