MEDIA RELEASE 15 August 2011
Working together for a safer community
Burwood Council in partnership with Canada Bay Council, NSW Police, Burwood Westfield and Concord High School provided residents with free registration plate locks on August 15.
Rego–Plate–Locks are designed to securely fasten number plates to vehicles, aiming to deter and prevent theft of number plates.
Burwood Mayor John Faker said the joint initiative helps make our community a safer area.
"The plates can only be removed using the patented security tool which is available at local police stations and the company that provides the locks," Cr Faker said.
"The lock prevents the theft of registration plates and saves the owner of the vehicle the inconvenience and cost of applying for new plates."

Burwood Mayor John Faker, Senior Constable John Tikisci and a student from Concord High School install the lock.
International Student Excursion with Principal
As an integral part of the LBOTE/International committee organisation and planning, Concord High School arranges an annual field trip to the Blue Mountains. Our school principal regularly attends this outing which takes one full day and involves a return bus trip to the scenic lookout area next to the Three Sisters, at the Blue Mountains, New South Wales.
Many of our International students have not experienced the natural beauty and world heritage status of the Blue Mountains. We are met by an indigenous guide who introduces our group to their unique culture and history. We then participate in a guided bush walk to a famous local waterfall where a BBQ lunch is prepared by school staff.
This trip provides a unique insight into a special culture which needs to be appreciated, respected and preserved. It is a wonderful learning experience for International students and a special opportunity for them to interact with teachers and their principal in a relaxed and informal environment.
