International Students

2011 IDP International Students Exhibition

IDP International Students Exhibition 2011

This year many of our students have come from Korea and China with a few students from Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan.  The cross-cultural experience of International students interacting with our local students is a powerful educational experience.  It allows for all students to enhance their knowledge of each other's culture and language.  In an ever changing global world it is essential for young people to develop tolerance and understanding of other cultures.

2011 presents another exciting year ahead for Concord High School students.  Once again opportunities are presented to students to become School Prefects, to be members of the School Representative Council and to also participate in Community Volunteer Activities.

International Student Festival 2011

The support of the LBOTE/International Students Project Team is continuing in the school.  Recent rule changes have required schools to have a greater role in the welfare needs of young International students.  The employment of two Youth Officers, who often liaise between students and teachers, is beneficial to the welfare needs of the younger students.  Raylene (Mirae) Park is former Concord High School student who has returned to provide support for the Korean background students.  Raylene is currently studying education at University of Sydney.  Jessie Huang speaks Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and has recently graduated from University of Sydney. It is important to note that Jessie is also an ex-student of Concord who did extremely well in her HSC in 2007.  The two liaison officers provide an essential link between students and teachers and they are often in the classroom offering English language support.
